Thursday game is the first time the two programs have met since their inaugural meeting during the 1983-84 season. The Pack won that contest, 77-74, at Reynolds Coliseum.
State enters the contest fresh off a 67-65 victory over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y.
SBU’s Eric Mosely tied the game at 65-65 with a pair of free throws with three seconds remaining on the clock. It was State’s ball on the Bonnies’ end line.
Senior C.J. Williams, a former high school quarterback, inbounded the ball the length of the court into Leslie’s hands in the left corner near the Pack’s basket. Leslie then spun and flipped the ball up and over a defender. The ball danced on the rim before falling through for the winning basket.
