Amerson Named Semifinalist for Thorpe Award

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State cornerback David Amerson is a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, as announced today by the Jim Thorpe Association. The Thorpe Award is annually given to the top defensive back in college football.

The accolade adds to a growing pile for Amerson. Last week he was named Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week, and was also named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award. He has been tabbed as ACC Defensive Back of the Week twice this year.

Amerson leads all FBS players with eight interceptions for the year - two more than any other player.

In addition to his picks, Amerson has 39 total tackles on the season.
