NC State Boasts Top-10 Tandem

SKILLMAN, N.J. --- NC State women's tennis duo Sanaa Bhambri and Sandhya Nagaraj, ranked seventh-nationally, highlights the national rankings released Wednesday, January 5 by the ITA.
Both Bhambri and Nagaraj were also ranked in singles competition. Bhambri earned the #32 spot, while Nagaraj was rated #53 nationally.
The Wolfpack's tandem of Ashley Miller and Christy Sipes were ranked #86 for their 4-1 record during the fall season.
Bhambri and Nagaraj put together a 13-3 record during fall competition. Their wins include victories over ninth-ranked Alda/Nichols of Tennessee and 29th-ranked Lesniak/Steinbauer from SMU.
All three of the twosome's losses came at the hands of opponents ranked in the top-15, including Clemson's second-ranked Wong/Bek team.
In singles play, Bhambri scored nine wins over players ranked in the top-100, featuring victories against 33rd-ranked Whitney Wolf of LSU and 45th-ranked Holly Cao of Harvard.
Nagaraj picked up three wins against top-100 competition, her best a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory over Wake Forest's Martina Pavelec, ranked 62nd-nationally. The Chennai, India native fell to 10th-ranked Danielle Lao of Southern California and 13th-ranked Zoe De Bruycker of UNC.
In the Carolina region, Bhambri and Nagaraj are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.
Underscoring the high level of area talent, the tandem is ranked fourth-regionally, despite being seventh-nationally.
