Rifle Opens Spring With Second Place Finish

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- Wolfpack rifle finished second, defeating two Citadel teams, but falling to Army to open the spring season Saturday.
NC State (22-8, 18-3 SEARC, 0-4 GARC) posted a team total of 4,488 to Army’s 4,625. The Citadel men finished third at 4,418, followed by the Citadel women at 4,151.
William Teller led the Pack in both events, notching a 565 in smallbore and a 583 in air rifle, to finish second overall trailing only Kelly Buck of Army.
NC State’s air rifle total of 2,268 was also propped up by a 571 from Bryan Cross, a 559 by Madeline Pike, and a 555 by Mark Nations.
In smallbore, the Pack posted a 2,220 after a 559 from Cross, a 547 from Pike, and a 549 from Nations.
The Wolfpack return to action in two weeks against Memphis in Murray, Ky on January 29.
