RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State football finished the season ranked No. 25 nationally in both major polls - the Associated Press poll and the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 football coaches poll. The ranking marks the first for the Wolfpack since finishing 12th in the AP poll in 2002.
"The final polls are the only ones that really matter in the long run, so we are glad to be included," said head coach Tom O'Brien. "But mainly I'm pleased about the ranking because it shows that our program is making the progress that we expect. Now we just need to build on that going forward."
The Pack collected nine wins this season, marking the first time since 2002 that NC State posted as many wins in the regular season.
Several Wolfpack players garnered honors for their efforts on the season, highlighted by Nate Irving receiving second-team All-American accolades from the prestigious Walter Camp Football Foundation. Irving and George Bryan were both named first-team All-ACC, while Owen Spencer and Russell Wilson took second-team honors.
