RALEIGH, N.C. -
NC State running backs coach Jason Swepson has been named head football coach at Elon as announced by the university today. Swepson becomes the seventh of 21 assistant coaches under Tom O’Brien to be named head coach of a Division I program.
Swepson has spent the past four seasons coaching the Wolfpack running backs after serving in the same capacity under O’Brien at Boston College from 1999-2006. This past season Mustafa Greene became the first freshman since 1980 to rush for a touchdown in his first four games.
At Boston College he coached William Green to consensus first-team All-America honors.
Swepson, a native of Seehonk, Mass., earned a B.S. in human development from Boston College in 1992, where he lettered for four seasons at running back and wide receiver.
During his 14 years as a head coach, Tom O’Brien has mentored seven assistant
