NC State head football coach Tom O’Brien expects his players to be champions in the classroom, in the community and on the football field. As part of that effort, the NC State football program will be partnering with Coca-Cola and Harris Teeter for the fourth consecutive year to collect new toys and donations throughout the 2010 football season to benefit the U.S. Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots campaign.
Coca-Cola will donate $500 for every Wolfpack touchdown scored this season to the NC State/Toys for Tots Fund. At the conclusion of the season, representatives from the Wolfpack football program will use the funds to purchase toys that will be donated to Toys for Tots. During the 2009 season, Coca-Cola contributed $21,500 for the 43 Wolfpack touchdowns scored through the Clemson game, and Wolfpack fans donated over $15,500 in cash and more than 4000 toys at the 2009 Toys for Tots NC State vs. Clemson game. The 2009 campaign was the most successful yet, reaching the $40,000 mark.
In three years, the partnership between Coca-Cola, Toys for Tots, and Harris Teeter has raised over $100,000 in cash donations and collected more than 10,000 toys for Triangle children in need across a nine-county area.
Football fans in the Triangle will have an additional opportunity to donate to the cause when NC State hosts Wake Forest at Carter-Finley Stadium on Saturday, November 14. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the Wolfpack Fan Zone, located in front of the RBC Center. Coca-Cola and Toys for Tots representatives will be on hand to collect toys up until kick-off. Although all toy donations are appreciated, new toys for toddlers ages 2-4 and pre-teens ages 10-12 are needed most. Cash donations will also be accepted at the stadium gates until kick-off, and at the toy donation area in Fan Zone. Fans donating a new toy or a cash gift at the Fan Zone on game day will also receive a free 2 Liter from Coca-Cola and Harris Teeter.
More details about the NC State football/Coca-Cola Toys for Tots campaign will be posted on GoPack.com throughout the season at www.gopack.com/toysfortots.
