Baseball's Buchanan Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. — Junior righthander Jake Buchanan was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Pitcher of the Week for the week just completed. On Friday, April 16, Buchanan threw a complete-game six-hitter to defeat Maryland 4-2 in College Park.
Buchanan threw 99 pitches in his complete-game victory over the Terps. He retired the first 10 batters he faced, and 14 of the last 16. Maryland scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Buchanan went to a two-ball count on just seven batters. He did not go to a three-ball count the entire game. Buchanan improved to 4-3 with a 4.01 ERA for the season.
This was Buchanan’s second complete game in as many starts at Shipley Field. He made his first-ever college start there on May 10. 2008, and tossed a five-hitter on 97 pitches and won 12-1.
