RALEIGH, N.C. – Fans who have never gotten an insiders' view of NC State's football facilities can now see every amenity with a step-by-step tour of Carter-Finley Stadium, Vaughn Towers and the Murphy Center.
The newly launched GoPack.com virtual tours, the first ever created for a college athletics program by Sarasota, Fla.-based MotionVR Inc., consist of more than 30 different 360-degree tours of every part of the Wolfpack's football home.
There are eight separate tours of the three levels of Vaughn Towers, 16 different tours of the Murphy Center and seven tours of the stadium, from concourse to field level. The unique feature of the tours, according to MotionVR vice president Dan Tilton, is continuous motion view created with still photography and proprietary software.
Viewers can click on the tours at www.gopack.com/footballtours, and select a section of the stadium complex they would like to see. Once there, a viewer clicks on the forward, backward or rotate buttons on the screen to see a view of the stadium from just about any vantage point.
The tours are also a useful recruiting tool to show potential players the amenities they could use during their playing careers at NC State, through a useful remote control feature.
A member of the staff can connect with a recruit by phone, provide him with a four-digit code and assume control of his computer for an inside view of the facilities.
"The benefits to potential students, in a series of a couple of minutes, they are going to get a great understanding of what NC State football is all about," Tilton said.
The MotionVR technology, developed five years ago, has its roots as a residential real estate sales. But it was quickly incorporated into the hospitality industry, primarily with Las Vegas casinos and hotels. NC State's tours are the first for a college program, but MotionVR is set to launch others at several schools across the nation, Tilton said.
"The athletics department is excited about launching the virtual tours," said NC State assistant athletics director for marketing and web operations Chris Alston. "Our football facilities are among the finest in the nation. Using this state-of-the-art technology provided by MotionVR, we are able to showcase the facilities to our fans, alumni and potential student-athletes throughout the nation."
