RALEIGH, N.C. - After an offensive barrage in the opening series against La Salle, NC State (3-0) will host Campbell (2-1) on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
The Wolfpack and Fighting Camels will meet at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the 54th meeting between the two, with NC State leading the all-time series 41-11-1. Campbell went 27-24 a year ago and won both games against the Pack.
NC State is coming off of a three-game sweep of La Salle where several team scoring records were broken. The Wolfpack won the three games by a combined score of 65-15. The 65 runs scored in the three games set a new school standard for runs in three consecutive games, whether in a three-game series or against different opponents. The 32 runs in the opener broke the old single game mark of 29 which occured on March 29, 1984 in a 29-10 victory over Wake Forest.
Dallas Poulk, the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, went 6-11 over the weekend and had a team-leading 10 RBI. Kyle Wilson showed why he bats in the lead-off spot, with a .625 batting average and 10 runs scored.
Jake Buchanan (1-0) and Cory Mazzoni (1-0) both recorded wins in their opening starts. Mazzoni only allowed one earned run, while striking out seven in five innings.
Following the midweek game against Campbell, NC State will travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Friday, Feb. 26 to take part in the Baseball at the Beach event. The Wolfpack will open up against UC Irvine on Friday, followed by James Madison on Saturday and Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
