Wrestling Set For Dual Doubleheader Saturday In Oklahoma

RALEIGH, N.C. — After a pair of unattached tournaments, NC State will begin the dual portion of its 2010-11 wrestling season with a pair of matches on the road this Saturday in Norman, Okla.
The Wolfpack, ranked 25th in the latest national poll by intermatwrestle.com, will take on Oklahoma City at noon eastern time, then will take on ninth-ranked Oklahoma at 4 p.m.

NC State began the season at the Wolfpack Open at Reynolds Coliseum, then went to the Pembroke Classic this past weekend at UNC Pembroke. No team scoring was kept for either tournament.
A quartet of juniors leads the Pack heading to Oklahoma: Mike Moreno (11-1) at 125 pounds; Darrius Little (9-1) at 141; Colton Palmer (8-2) at 157; and Quinton Godley (7-2) at 174. Moreno and Godley won their weight classes at the Pembroke Classic. Little won at 141 at the Wolfpack Open.
NC State will fill out the remaining six spots in the lineup with sophomore Dale Shull (5-2) at 133, redshirt-sophomore Brett Farina (4-4) at 149, sophomore Kasey Young (3-2) at 165, freshman Chris Intehar (0-2) at 184, sophomore KaRonne Jones (5-4) at 197, and sophomore Christian McClean (0-2) at heavyweight.
Oklahoma City is 4-0 in dual matches and ranked No. 16 in the latest NAIA poll. The Stars are led by junior 165-pounder Mark Meyer, who is 13-1. Senior 141-pounder Kenny Wheeler (10-3) and freshman 197-pounder James Brignance (10-4) also have double-figures in wins.
Oklahoma is 3-0 in dual matches after a 32-7 demolition of No. 18 Arizona State last week in Tempe. The Sooners feature seven ranked wrestlers: No. 1 Zach Bailey (7-0) at 141; No. 8 Jarrod Patterson (7-0) at 125; No. 9 Tyler Caldwell (6-0) at 174; No. 12 Nathan Fernandez (7-1) at heavyweight; No. 13 Erich Schmidtke (9-1) at 184; No. 16 Matt Lester (4-2) at 157; and No. 20 Chase Nelson (4-3) at 165.
