The Jamelle Eugene Score
8/9/2009 12:00:00 AM | Football
When you run with the Pack, you’d better be able to keep up with Jamelle Eugene. That’s because the fifth-year senior is at the head of NC State's volatile rushing attack as one of two State players with over 1,000 career rushing yards. His 1,168 career yards are good enough to put Eugene, dubbed “The Energizer Bunny” by coach Tom O’ Brien, ninth overall among active ACC backs. Eugene averaged 4.7 yards per carry in 2008, the highest mark on the team. He put up a season-best 92 yards in the win over Duke and got his only two touchdowns of the season versus North Carolina. All this coming off a 2007 campaign where he received the team’s Governor’s Award for the Most Valuable Performer. Eugene had another impressive effort against State’s biggest rival in 2007, when he put up 159 yards rushing in the Pack’s first win over UNC since 2003. Here’s some stats to help fans keep pace with the Wolfpack’s agile running back.
