Wolfpack Well Represented at NC Women's Amateur

WILSON, N.C. Four NC State women’s golfers competed this week at the 60th North Carolina Women's Amateur Championship hosted by Wilson Country Club.
Defending champion Joanna Saleeby and Kathleen Strandberg tied for sixth at +3 (147), while Julie Saleeby was a stroke back and tied for fourth at +4 (148) at the par-72, 5896-yard layout.
Cindel Gwyn finished tied for 21st at +11 (155).
Katherine Perry of Cary fired the only sub-par round during Thursday’s final day to win the 60th state amateur.
Due to heavy rains in the Wilson area on Tuesday the first round was cancelled. The championship, which is normally contested over 54 holes, was shortened to 36 holes.
This championship was conducted by the North Carolina Women's Golf Association (NCWGA) which is a volunteer based organization.
