RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball will host No. 15 North Carolina for a three-game ACC stand this weekend at the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium on campus. All three contests will be broadcast live online via ACC Select, while GoPack.com will provide live stats.
The two programs will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, before wrapping up the annual series with third and final meeting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 5.
State, which has won eight of its last 12 games, leads the all-time series 12-5. A year ago UNC took all three games in nearby Chapel Hill before the Wolfpack topped the Tar Heels in the semifinals at the ACC Championships.
The Pack stands at 18-13 (3-3 ACC) on the year after sweeping a double dip at home against Elon this past Tuesday. A scheduled twin bill against Radford for this past Thursday was called off due to rain. State has now lost 11 games off its schedule entirely due to weather issues this season.
Hannah Ojeda's .321 batting average is tops on the Wolfpack roster while Alyssa Ishibashi (.305) leads the team in hits with 26. Kristine Bechtholdt's seven long balls is a team-best, while Allison Presnell and Bridget Desbois have both knocked in 18 runs.
Lindsay Campana (1.42 ERA) and Mendy McKenzie (2.33) have carried the vast majority of the workload for the State pitching staff, with Campana holding a 9-6 record while McKenzie sits at 7-5.
The Tar Heels carry a 31-7 (7-2 ACC) record and a 10-game wining streaking to Raleigh for its first visit to the Curtis & Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium. Six UNC players boast batting averages over .300 with Whitney Allen's .404 clip leading the way. Breanna Brown has 36 RBIs on the year, while Danielle Spaudling has mashed seven home runs.
In the circle Spaulding owns a 0.94 ERA with a 14-2 record. Lisa Norris also sits at 14-4 with a 1.35 ERA.
