Philip McAuley, his wife Lynne, eleven year old son Cooper, and two year old daughter Ana along with grandma and grandpa were all anxiously waiting for Ned Hall from James River Equipment Company yesterday afternoon, when he delivered the prized CX Gator to their home in
Philip, a NC State graduate (’86), lifelong Wolfpack fan, active Wolfpack Club member and current season ticket holder entered the John Deere Gator Giveaway at the first home football game of the 2008 season. In order to win the giveaway Philip had to guess how many rushing yards NC State would have during the regular season. When asked how he came up with the magic number he said:
“I knew NC State had a young team and when I registered (at the William & Mary game) the Quarterback position was still in question. I figured we’d have to run for 150 to 200 yards per a game all season. So I just wrote down 1,508 yards. It just sounded like the right number.” He was right; he came within two yards of the Wolfpack’s regular season total of 1,506.
And now he’s the new owner of a brand new John Deere CX Gator courtesy of John Deere and James River Equipment Company. McAuley’s prediction for the 2009 season... “The Wolfpack will win at least 9 games.”
