RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State women's golf coach Page Marsh is pleased to announce that Brittany Marchand (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada) has signed a National Letter of Intent during the fall signing period.
Marchand, 17, competes at Orangeville District Secondary School for coach Ian Budgell.
Marchand shot a four-under 66 to easily score the lowest round of the District 10/4 high school golf championship at Wildwoods Golf and Country Club in Fergus, Ontario, on Sept. 23.
Marchand had a busy summer on the junior golf circuit. She played in the USGA Girls National Championship at Trump National in Bedminster, N.J. She fired a three-under 69 to take first at the qualifier held at Ohio Prestwick Country Club on June 24.
She also played in the Canadian Junior Girls Championship this summer, finishing sixth in the August event.
As a fifteen-year old, Marchand scorched the field by firing a three-under par 69 to become the youngest player to claim the Ontario Women’s Champion of Champions title at Wildfire Golf Club in Lakefield, Ontario.
Representing Shelburne Golf and Country Club in the competition of Ontario Women’s Club Champions, Marchand recorded the only score under par and was four strokes better than her nearest competitor.
The two-time team MVP at Orangeville, Marchand ranked as high as fifth in the Ontario Junior Girls Order of Merit and 15th in all of Canada.
She has been a member of the GAO (Golf Association of Ontario) High Performance Team the last two years and represented Canada at the Guatemala Junior Championship while competing with the GAO's under-19 Excellence team for the 2009-10 season.
Marchand also competed on Team Canada at the Ruth Eller Cup Team - a competition that pits four top junior girls from Ontario against four top juniors from the state of Tennessee.
