W. Tennis Closes Out Fall Season

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team concluded play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 8. Overall the Wolfpack had a successful tournament. For the weekend Sandhya Nagaraj, Daria Petrovic and Chloe Smith all finished the tournament 3-1.
In singles competition, Petrovic defeated Riley Blanks of Virginia, 6-4, 6-0. Ashley Miller faced Maria Fucillo of Virginia, losing 7-5, 7-5. Lenka Hojckova lost a close match to Alexa Palen of Minnesota, 7-6(3), 6-4.
The Pack also faced members of Duke on Sunday. After winning her first three matches on the weekend, Nagaraj was beaten 6-4, 6-4, by Amanda Plotkin. Smith lost to Elizabeth Granson, 6-1, 6-0. Finishing out singles play, Berkeley Brock fell short to Ellah Nze, 6-4, 6-1.
The Pack had a victorious day in doubles competition, sweeping the three matches against Maryland. Brock and Hojckova teamed up to beat Lisa Miller and Maggie MacKeever, 8-5. Nagaraj and Petrovic had a dominating effort over Jordan Hansbrough and Julia Huschke, winning 8-1. Miller and Smith capped off the day with an 8-3 win over Oskana Krutiyenko and Eleonore Paillaud.
This was the final fall tournament for the women's tennis team. Their next match will take place on Friday, Jan. 29 in Raleigh N.C. against East Carolina.
