Bryan Named to Midseason Mackey List

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State tight end George Bryan is one of 22 players who have made the midseason “Watch List” for the 2009 John Mackey Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top tight end by the Nassau County Sports Commission.  Bryan, who leads the Wolfpack with 30 catches, is the only Atlantic Coast Conference tight end on the list.

Bryan is one of just three sophomores on the ‘watch’ list.  The Castle Hayne, N.C., native is currently tied for ninth in the ACC in receptions per game with 4.3 and has more catches this season than any other league tight end.

The Mackey Award recipient is selected by vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and the 2009 John Mackey winner will be announced on December 10, 2009. Other key dates include the announcement of the 2009 Mackey semi-finalists on November 16, 2009 and the announcement of the 2009 Mackey finalists on November 23, 2009.
