Wrestling Wins Twice In Duals

RALEIGH, N.C. Darrius Little, Joe Caramanica, Darrion Caldwell, Kody Hamrah and Jake Burge each won twice in as many bouts to lift NC State to a pair of victories in the NC State Duals. The Wolfpack defeated Anderson 36-17 and Campbell 25-24 to improve to 3-4 on the season.

Caldwell (149 pounds), who won by forfeit against Campbell, pinned Anderson’s Nick DiCarlo at 1:13 to improve to 22-0. The pin was his 10th of the season and the 43rd of his career. Caldwell, ranked No. 3 nationally, is now 78-11 for his career and is tied for 14th place in school history for career wins. He has won 23 matches in a row dating back to last season, and has won 42 of his last 44.

Caramanica (141) improved to 7-0 with a 6-0 decision over Campbell’s Kelin Bidelspach and a pin at 0:54 of Anderson’s Anthony DiCarlo. Caramanica became the 12th wrestler in the history of the program to win 80 matches or more in a career.

Hamrah (157) pinned Jonathan Jackson of Anderson at 2:38, then pinned Campbell’s Jake Fose at 4:05. Hamrah now is 18-5 for the season with five pins. He is two wins shy of matching his season high of 20, set two years ago when he went 20-7 as a junior. He is 66-26 with 15 pins for his career.

Following are complete results for the first two rounds of the NC State Duals, held Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum. There was one match, between Campbell and Anderson, scheduled for the third and final round of the duals.
