Irving Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C Redshirt sophomore Nate Irving has been tabbed as ACC Defensive Back of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, Sept. 8. A native of Wallace, N.C., Irving has exploded out of the gate this season, leading the league in tackles-per-game at 11.5 through the first two weeks.
Irving posted 13 tackles including 1.5 for loss and had an interception and fumble recovery that both setup scores for the Wolfpack against the Tribe this past Saturday.
He is second in the conference with 3.5 tackles for loss and second in interceptions with two. His two picks stand fifth nationally, and his total tackles rank 10th.
Irving had 10 tackles - including two for loss - as well as his first career interception, in the season opener at South Carolina.
For his career Irving is averaging nine tackles-per-game in his six starts and has had a tackle in all 13 of his appearances. He has notched 54 of his 75 career tackles during his six starts.
