RALEIGH, N.C. Quarterback Russell Wilson has been selected as the ACC Offensive Back of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday, Sept. 22.
A native of Richmond, Va., Wilson helped lead the Wolfpack to a thrilling 30-24 overtime victory against No. 15 East Carolina this past Saturday at a raucous Carter-Finley Stadium. He completed 21 of 31 pass attempts for 210 yards, racking up three touchdowns in the process. All three of Wilson’s touchdown passes tied the game.
Late in the fourth quarter it was Wilson who orchestrated a seven play, 55-yard touchdown drive, culminating in a end zone strike to George Bryan to force overtime. He completed four of five passes on the drive for 56 yards, including a clutch 26-yard strike to Jarvis Williams at the start of the sequence, as well as a 17-yarder to Andre Brown.
Wilson’s three touchdown strikes were the most for any NC State quarterback since Daniel Evans tossed three a year ago against Virginia.
The accolade marks the second of the season for the Pack, as Nate Irving was previously named ACC Defensive Back of the Week on Sept. 8.
