Women's Tennis Finishes Day Two of UNCW Invite

WILMINGTON, N.C. - On day two of the UNC Wilmington Collegiate Invitational, senior Neils Barringer and freshman Diana Mortlock of the NC State women's tennis team reached the final match of their respective singles flights. Freshman Pender Sessoms also advanced to the finals in the consolation bracket of her flight on Saturday, Sept. 13. Barringer and Mortlock earned a spot in the final round of their doubles flight.
Barringer defeated Rocio Cabanillas (ECU) Saturday afternoon, 6-0, 6-1, to advance in the tournament. She will take on Kayla Schwenk (UNCW) on Sunday, Sept. 14 to determine the winner of the flight. Mortlock took down Lucy Dougherty (UNCG), 7-5, 7-5, to move to the final round where she will take on Chelsea Kahle of UNCW. Sessoms, after losing her first match on Friday, Sept. 12, defeated Jessica Eblen (UNCG), 6-3, 6-3, to earn a spot in the consolation finals of her flight.
In doubles play, Sessoms, along with Susan Bitetti of Furman, fell to Cabanillas and Aurey LePottier (ECU), 8-6. Barringer and Mortlock advanced to the finals of the doubles flight after beating Jocelyn Ffriend and Hanes Harris of North Carolina, 4-1. The Pack duo will face Cabanillas and LePottier Sunday morning.
