RALEIGH, N.C. - Redshirt senior Anthony Hill has been named to the 2008 John Mackey Award Watch List as announced by the Nassau County Sports Commission. The announcement highlights Hill's return to the field this upcoming season, after sitting out last year with a torn ACL.
Named second-team All-ACC in 2006, Hill was the Pack's leading receiver with 45 catches - 15 more than any other player - and placed fifth in the conference for receptions per game with 3.75. As a sophomore in 2005 he started 11 of 12 contests, and pulled in a memorable first career touchdown that proved to be the deciding score in an upset win at ninth-ranked Florida State.
A native of Houston, Texas, Hill is majoring in sports management.
The John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end, is selected by a vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee and announced in mid-December.
