RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State is hot and the national college baseball polls have noticed. The Wolfpack has won its last four weekend Atlantic Coast Conference series, split the one prior to that, and has won 16 of its last 20 games. At 15-8 in ACC play (30-13 overall), NC State is in second place in the Atlantic Division and a strong fourth place in the league’s overall standings.
Nationally, the Wolfpack moved into the rankings two weeks ago, and this week Collegiate Baseball magazine has NC State ranked No. 18 in its weekly poll. Baseball America and Rivals.com each have the Wolfpack at No. 19. The National College Baseball Writers Assocation (NCBWA), whose poll usually lags a week behind the other three, has NC State at No. 23 (the Pack was No. 22 and No. 24 in the three other polls a week ago).
NC State is off this week for final exams. The Wolfpack returns to action on Friday vs. Campbell at Doak Field at Dail Park. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. The Pack then plays High Point on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s game is a 6:30 p.m. game, while Sunday’s first pitch will be at 1:30 p.m.
After this weekend’s action, NC State will have just one regular-season game left at Doak Field at Dail Park, a May 13 game vs. North Carolina A&T. That game, originally scheduled as a night game, has been moved to the afternoon and will begin at 2 p.m.
