How much time is involved in being a member of the NCSU Dance Team? The team practices four times a week in addition to games during the week and on weekends. There are also occasional community service projects, appearances, school events or fundraisers that occur during the week and on some weekends.
What should I expect from Practice? Staying in peak physical condition is a very important part of being a member of the NCSU dance team. Each practice begins with running 1-2 miles and ends with performing abdominal exercises. The remaining practice time consists of stretching, working on technique and learning and perfecting routines. Once a week, practice is completely devoted to small group workouts.
Does the dance team fundraise and participate in community service projects?
Yes, all dance team members actively fundraise for our national competition, uniforms, windsuits, etc. Each member is required to raise $400 per semester through our t-shirt sponsorship program. Other fundraising includes dance team poster sales, t-shirt sales, Auto-Bell carwash tickets. We also participate in a number of community service projects.
What sports does the Dance Team dance for?
The dance team dances at all home football games, men’s and women’s home basketball games, Gymnastics meets and occasional home Baseball games. We also participate in pep rallies, homecoming parades, and other school events.
If you are interested in trying out for the team, please complete the audition application and bring it with you to tryouts. We hope to see you there!
