Hickson Nabs Two Honors From ACC

Raleigh, N.C. NC State freshman J.J. Hickson was an unanimous selection on the 2008 ACC All-Freshman team announced by the conference this afternoon. Hickson also earned All-ACC honorable mention honors.
Hickson is the ninth NC State played to be named to the All-Freshman team, and the Pack has now had a player named each of the last two seasons (Brandon Costner).
Hickson currently leads all ACC freshmen in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and in blocked shots (1.57 bkpg). Overall in the conference, he is second in rebounding and fifth in blocked shots. After leading all rookies in scoring for the entire season, Hickson now ranks second scoring 14.4 per game, and is 13th overall in the conference. He is trying to become only the eighth freshman in ACC history to lead his team in both scoring and rebounding in his freshman season.
Hickson leads the entire conference and in field goal percentage, connecting on 59.2 percent (155-262) of his shots thus far, with the next closest player in the ACC at just 54.3 percent. He has nine double-doubles on the season, including five in ACC play, both second-best in the conference overall and tops among first-year players.
