NC State hosts Virginia Tech in men's basketball Tuesday night at the RBC Center, marking the first time the two teams have met since the tragic shootings on Virginia Tech's campus on April 16, 2007. To honor its fellow ACC institution, the Wolfpack Club has contributed $10,000 to Tech's booster organization, the Hokie Club, for the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, which directly contributes to those affected by the tragedy.
In addition to the $10,000 contribution, the Wolfpack Club and its Board of Directors developed a permanent resolution on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in honor of the Virginia Tech victims. This resolution recognized the unwavering Hokie spirit and put forth the most sincere condolences and support of the Virginia Tech families. The Wolfpack Club also displayed a banner that was signed by their donors in honor of the Virginia Tech victims. This banner was put up in the ticket office and taken on caravan trips throughout the summer.
Throughout the season, NC State's basketball team has worn a small black patch on its uniforms in remembrance of the Virginia Tech shooting victims.
