With an impressive SEARC regular season under its belt, the NC State rifle team heads to Charleston, S.C. this weekend to compete in the SEARC Championships. The match, hosted by Citadel, will take place March 1st. The Pack is currently 13-0 in the conference, and hopes to continue its streak with the team’s second straight conference championships. The match is an air-rifle only competition.
“Right now we are leading all other schools in the conference,” said head coach Keith Miller. “So if we shoot well we should defend our 2007 SEARC Team Champion title. We'd really like to put together another undefeated SEARC mark, so the pressure is on us to excel.”
The Pack is also looking to keep its individual champion title. Former team member Jennifer Marshall won the title the past three years, and last year, current senior Thomas Knight came in second behind her.
Last weekend, NC State competed in the GARC Championships, taking seventh in the eight-team competition. Knight and Noel Keck led the team in the air-rifle, each scoring a 567.
