Wilson Earns Governor's Award

RALEIGH, N.C. The NC State football team held its annual awards banquet on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Redshirt freshman Russell Wilson was given the Governor’s Award, an award for the most valuable player, after an impressive season and being named the ACC first team quarterback, as well as the ACC Rookie of the Year and Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The following is a list of the award winners for the 2008 football squad:
Captains Awards: Anthony Hill, Jeremy Gray
Governor’s Award (Team MVP): Russell Wilson
Jim Ritcher Blocking Award (Outstanding Offensive Lineman): Ted Larsen
Al Michaels Award (Team Before Self): John Bedics
Most Valuable Linebacker: Nate Irving
Mike Hardy Award (Winning Attitude): Robbie Leonard
Carey Brewbaker Award (Most Valuable Defensive Lineman): Alan Michael Cash
Most Valuable Defensive Back: J.C. Neal
Most Valuable Offensive Back: Andre Brown
Special Teams Player of the Year: Ryan Goodman
Bo Rein Award (Vital Contribution in an Unsung Role): Jeremy Gray
Ken McNeil Iron Wolf Award (Greatest Comeback from Injury): Anthony Hill
Bob Warren Award (Integrity and Sportsmanship): Daniel Evans
Gary Rowe Award (Most Receptions): Owen Spencer
Earle Edwards Award (Highest GPA): Meares Green
Most Valuable Scout Team Performers: Mike Glennon, Asante Cureton
