Wrestling Drops Three in ACC/Big Ten Clash

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Darrion Caldwell and Kody Hamrah won three matches apiece for NC State, but the Wolfpack dropped all three of its bouts in the third annual ACC/Big Ten Clash. The Pack fell 40-7 to ninth-ranked Illinois, 23-13 to Michigan State, and 20-15 to No. 12 Wisconsin.
Caldwell, the nation's No. 4-ranked 149-pounder, won a pair of matches over ranked opponents. He defeated No. 14 Troy Tirapelle of Illinois and No. 7 Kyle Ruschell of Wisconsin, both by 8-4 decisions. In his third match, Caldwell pinned David Cheza of Michigan State in 1:06. Hamrah defesated Grant PAswall of Illinois 13-5, Kyle Bounds of Michigan State 7-3, and Ben Jordan of Wisconsin 6-3.Freshman 174-pounder Jake Burge won two of his three matches for NC State.
