Rifle Takes Second at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The NC State rifle team opened its 2008-09 season with a second place finish at The Citadel on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Charleston S.C. The Wolfpack scored a combined total of 4,481 (2,274 air rifle/2,207 smallbore) The Army took first place with a team score of 4,598 (2,320 air rifle/2,278 smallbore). The host The Citadel scored 2,192 in smallbore, and the men scored 2,224 in air rifle, and the women scored 2,155. The Pack is now 1-1 (1-0 SEARC/0-1 GARC) on the season.
Junior Samantha Bullard led the Pack in the air rifle event with a score of 577, and junior Katie Siegert scored a team high in smallbore with 573. Newcomers Mark Nations and Rachel Jones also competed for the team total. Nations scored a 531 in smallbore and Jones posted a 568 in air rifle.
The Pack will travel back to Charleston, S.C. next weekend to compete in the SEARC No. 1.
