Women's Tennis Advances at ITA Regional

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Senior Neils Barringer advanced to the main singles draw of the ITA Regional in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Thursday, Oct. 23. She defeated Paige Kensrue of Elon in the round of 32 in the qualifying singles, 6-3, 6-1, and then took down Valerie Behr of UNC Greensboro, 6-2, 6-1, to advance to the main draw.
Junior Berkeley Brock and sophomore Lenka Hojckova advanced in doubles play after defeating Cristina Garcia and Ana Surviladze of Campbell, 8-3, in the first round. Barringer and freshman Diana Mortlock also advanced in doubles, taking down Laura Kriett and Rita Gouveia of George Washington, 8-0.
Mortlock also competed in the qualifying singles round, but fell to Paula Jamie of East Tennessee State, 0-6, 7-5, 7-6(5).
The main draw of singles will begin tomorrow. Play will continue until Oct. 27.
