NC State-Georgia Tech Coaches Quotes

NC State coach Sidney Lowe
“[Georgia Tech] came out aggressive and active. We had to get hit before we were able to get into it. On the offensive side, we didn’t take care of the basketball. We had 18 turnovers and we can’t do that against teams like this.”
“We got guys out and in when we needed to. We just made bad decisions. We missed some open looks. Tiredness was not a factor. We tried to do things by ourselves, so we missed some things.”
“[Matt Causey] was key and did a lot for them. He was able to open up things inside. Our bigs opened up too much and it cost us.”
“They were fronting [J.J. Hickson]. They were more experienced and stronger. Even when we could get it to him, he would go up and they would block his shot. I keep talking about how we need to go up strong with two hands to prevent that.”
On Courtney Fells: “He was aggressive with the ball. He made an important three-point play down the stretch. He had a solid game.”
Georgia Tech head coach Paul Hewitt:
“I thought it was a very hard-fought game by both teams. What we were able to do in the last four minutes tonight, we haven’t been able to do that most of the year. We didn’t turn the ball over, we hit our shots, we hit the boards and played solid defense. If we had done those things earlier in the year, our won-lost record would be a lot better, and as long as we do those things we’ll be all right.
“We’ve hung in there with everyone this year,
“If [J.J.] Hickson was No. 1 on our game plan, then [Courtney] Fells was 1-A. The stats say that he’s only shooting 44 percent, but he’s much better than that. He shoots the ball so well. He’s tall and quick and is really dangerous.”
“Wins on the road are so hard in this league. It’s much harder to win on the road in this league than it is in other conferences because the home crowds are so good in this league. Not the homecourts, but the home crowds.”
