Costner Invited to Pan American Games Team Trials

Raleigh, N.C. Redshirt sophomore Brandon Costner of the NC State men’s basketball team is one of 30 collegiate players that have accepted an invitation to participate in the USA Basketball Men's Pan American Games Team Trials. The Trials will be held July 12-14 at Haverford College, close to Philadelphia, Pa.
The Trials will be used to select the finalists for the USA Basketball Pan American Games squad that will look to capture gold at the 2007 Pan American Games that are being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 25-29. The official 12-member selected USA team finalists will remain for the USA’s July 15-21 training camp.
Costner has previous USA Basketball experience, playing with the 2004 Youth Development Festival East Team.
This past season at NC State, Costner set NC State freshmen records in scoring (605 to break a 30-year record), scoring average (16.8), rebounds (264), field goals (193), field goals attempted (407), free throws made (158), free throws attempted (219), minutes (1,238) and games started (35).
He was named to the ACC All-Freshman team, and was also a third-team All-ACC selection. Costner was also a unanimous selection for the All-ACC Tournament first-team, as he set a NC State record by scoring 90 points in the Pack’s four games, including a career-high 30 points against Duke.
