Wolfpack Women up to No. 20 in Coaches' Poll

NC State is now ranked No. 20 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ poll released Tuesday.

Duke (30-1), who suffered its first loss of the season, 70-65 to then-No. 25 NC State, on Saturday, remained atop the poll for the eighth straight week. However, their three-week run of receiving all 31 first-place votes ended; Duke got 23 votes, while No. 2 Connecticut received seven and fourth-ranked Tennessee got one.

The Huskies (29-2) and No. 3 North Carolina (30-3) each moved up one spot from last week, while the Lady Vols (28-3) fell two spots from No. 2 after a 63-54 loss to No. 10 LSU on Saturday. Defending national champion Maryland (27-5) stayed at No. 5 for the second straight week.

Stanford, which has won nine straight, including a 62-55 victory over then-No. 7 Arizona State on Monday, improved from eighth to sixth. Ohio State (28-3) and the Sun Devils (28-4) each fell one spot, to No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Following an 81-65 win over then-No. 12 Georgia on Saturday, Vanderbilt (27-5) jumped from No. 13 to No. 9.

LSU (26-7) remained 10th, and Oklahoma (23-4) stayed at No. 11 for a second straight week.

Purdue (28-5) improved from 14th to 12th following a 64-61 win against No. 23 Michigan State on Sunday and a 64-52 victory at Ohio State on Monday. George Washington (26-3) suffered the week's biggest drop, falling four spots to No. 13 after a 57-55 loss to unranked Saint Joseph's on Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs (25-6) fell from 12th to 14th, while Texas A&M (23-5) moved up one spot to No. 15.

Middle Tennessee (28-3) moved up from No. 17 to No. 16. Baylor (24-6), which has lost two straight, including an 88-62 defeat at Oklahoma on Wednesday, fell from 15th to 17th. Bowling Green (26-3) stayed at No. 18, and Rutgers (21-8), which had been tied at No. 21, moved up to No. 19 following a 63-55 win against then-No. 19 Marquette on Monday.

Coming off its upset of Duke, NC State (23-9) saw the week's biggest jump, from No. 25 to No. 20. Marquette (25-6) and Wisconsin-Green Bay (25-3) each fell two spots, to No. 21 and No. 22, respectively. Michigan State (23-8) remained 23rd. Louisville (26-7), which had been tied with Rutgers at No. 21, fell to 24th after a 76-50 loss to UConn on Monday. Cal (23-8) fell one spot to No. 25 following a 60-53 loss at Arizona State on Sunday.
