At 197 pounds, sophomore the Wolfpack’s Ryan Goodman fell 9-3 to fourth-seeded Phil Davis of
Penn
State in the opening round, but recovered in the consolation round by pinning Jeremie Cook of Lock Haven at the 6:28 mark.
In the opening match with Davis, Goodman scored first with a takedown in the first period, but Davis tied it up with a reversal, took a 3-2 lead with an escape to start the second period, then pulled away with a takedown and three-point near fall late in the period.
Goodman handled Cook easily, building a 13-3 lead thanks to a takedown, a reversal and three near falls. Goodman, who now is 22-3 after splitting his first two bouts of the tournament, will face seventh-ranked Craig Brewster of
Two Wolfpack wrestlers, freshman 125-pounder
