Raleigh, N.C. - The NC State rifle team defeated the Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, Feb. 3 with an overall score of 4,512. The air-rifle total of 2,289 was the Wolfpack's highest this season, with three shooters posting scores over 570. Tom Knight led the Pack in smallbore with 567 in the Pack's last home match of the year, giving the team a total smallbore score of 2,223. The red and white now stand at 18-4 (10-0 SEARC/1-4 GARC) on the season after edging out a VMI score of 4,346, and a VMI-mixed total of 3,631.
NC State will travel to The Citadel in Charleston, S.C., for the Collegiate Sectionals and the NCAA main qualifier on Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11.
