Brackman Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. — After shutting out 30th-ranked Coastal Carolina and handing the Chanticleers their first defeat of the season, Andrew Brackman was voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Brackman, who improved his record to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.52 with 7 1/3 shutout innings, dominated Coastal, allowing six hits, walking one and striking out seven. Coastal Carolina mounted just one serious scoring opportunity, putting runners on second and third with one away, but Brackman got out of the inning with a groundout and a pop-up.
