Baseball Plays First Midweek Game Wednesday

“They haven’t played a game yet, so we don’t have any kind of scouting report on them, but they’re usually very well-coached and prepared to play,” Wolfpack head coach Elliott Avent said. “Keith Shumate has done a really nice job there, and they’ve become one of the best programs in their conference.”
“We have a lot of pitchers who still haven’t pitched yet, and they need to get in there and get some work,” Avent said. “We tried to add a game for Tuesday, and Clayton Shunick would have started that game. He’s only worked two innings so far, and guys like Joel Brookens, Joey Cutler, Andrew Taylor and Nate Karns still haven’t pitched yet. Sam Brown has only pitched one inning. We need to get them all some work.”
The Wolfpack and Aggies have played five times previously, and the Pack has won all five meetings. The latest was a 9-3 victory a year ago to the day at the Doak. Brian Aragon’s two-run double capped a five-run fourth inning to give the Wolfpack a working margin. Ryan Pond worked five innings and allowed one run on six hits to earn his first victory of the season.
