Hickson Grabs ACC Rookie of the Week Honors

Raleigh, N.C. - NC State's J.J. Hickson earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in the Pack's two wins last week. In earning the rookie award for the second time this season, Hickson posted back-to-back “double-doubles” as the Wolfpack extended their winning streak to five in a row with a pair of non-conference wins. The Marietta, Ga., product averaged 23.0 points and 11.5 rebounds and shot .938 from the field (15-of-16) and .813 from the free throw line (13-of-16) in victories over Seton Hall and Western Carolina.

At Seton Hall, Hickson scored 13 points while pulling down 10 rebounds, and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field.

He had an even more impressive performance against Western Carolina on Saturday, setting a new career-high of 33 points and tying his career-best of 13 rebounds. Hickson was 10-of-11 from the field, and 13-of-16 from the free throw line. His 33 points is the second-most in school history for a freshman in a single game.
