Hickson Named ACC Rookie of the Week

Raleigh, N.C. NC State’s J.J. Hickson was named ACC Rookie of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The freshman center averaged 26.5 points and 10.0 rebounds as a starter in his first two collegiate games.
The 6-9, 242-pound Marietta, Ga., product set an ACC record for most points by a freshman in his first collegiate game scoring 31 points against William & Mary on Thursday night. In the 66-47 win over the Tribe, Hickson made all 12 of his shots from the floor and pulled down seven rebounds. In Sunday’s 65-63 loss to New Orleans, Hickson totaled 22 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.
