A trio of Wolfpack football players earned ACC Football Player of the Week honors for their play in the upset win over No. 18/21 Virginia on Saturday in Raleigh. Donald Bowens, DaJuan Morgan and Jake Vermiglio were all selected after playing crucial roles in the Pack's 29-24 win over the Cavaliers.
Sophomore Donald Bowens set career-highs in receptions (11), yards (202) and touchdowns (2) to earn co-offensive back honors. The receptions and yardage rank as the fifth highest totals in school history and the most ever for a sophomore.
Junior DaJuan Morgan was named defensive back of the week after leading the team with 13 tackles and an interception that setup the Wolfpack's first touchdown. Morgan's interception on Virginia's first drive resulted in Bowen's first touchdown three plays later to stake the Wolfpack to a 7-0 lead.
Freshman Jake Vermiglio was tabbed the rookie of the week after going head-to-head against Virginia's All-American candidate Chris Long. Vermiglio graded out at 85, limiting Long to just five tackles and one sack as the Wolfpack offense put up 347 yards passing and 431 yards of offense. In just the second start of his career, Vermiglio saw action on 77 snaps, more plays than the first seven games of the season combined.
NC State will travel to Coral Gables, Fla. to take on the Miami Hurricanes this Saturday, Nov. 3. The game will be televised on ESPN-U.
