First Look: J.J. Hickson

But he’s trying not to let any of it go to his head.
“One of the biggest things for me is staying humble,” Hickson says in his first interview since joining the Wolfpack, available exclusively on GoPack.com. “My grandmother did a good job raising me like that.”
Hickson, an only child, lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his grandmother, Marie Myers. His goal is to pay back all of the effort she put into his upbringing by working hard at NC State, both on the basketball court and in the classroom.
“I would love to graduate from NC State and put a smile on her face,” Hickson said.
Enrolled in classes since June and now comfortable finding his way around campus, Hickson is eager to start practice with Sidney Lowe’s basketball program, not just to show that he is as good as advertised, but to help fulfill the high expectations of this year’s edition of the Wolfpack.
“We are expecting big things as a team and I am expecting big things from myself,” Hickson said.
Fans will have the opportunity to see Hickson and his teammates in action for the first time on Friday, Oct. 19, at 9 p.m. when the Wolfpack has its inaugural “B-Ballin’ at the Old Barn,” at Reynolds Coliseum, followed by the Red & White Game on Oct. 27 at the
