O?Brien Hire Tabbed as Best by Sporting News

Raleigh, N.C. – Tom Dienhart of Sporting News has named NC State’s hire of Tom O’Brien as head football coach the best among all new acquisitions by Bowl Championship Series schools. Director of Athletics Lee Fowler introduced O’Brien as the Pack’s 33rd head coach on Dec. 9, 2006.
O’Brien and his staff, which was completed on Jan. 25, with the hiring of Andy McCollum and Mike Reed, eagerly anticipate national signing day, which will take place next Wednesday, Feb. 7.
The NC State football team is currently participating in winter workouts, with spring practice slated to begin on Wednesday, March 14.
