Lawson Wins NFL Rookie of the Week Honors

It has taken Manny Lawson very little time to make an impact with the San Francisco 49rs. Voters on NFL.com made the former NC State defensive end the league’s Rookie of the Week following his performance in San Francisco’s 20-13 victory over the St Louis Rams last Sunday.

An outside linebacker with the 49rs, Lawson had three tackles, two sacks and two quarterback pressures in his team’s win over the weekend. Lawson helped the Niners defense hold the Rams to just 185 yards passing.

More than 27,000 fans voted on this week’s poll, selecting Lawson from a list of five candidates.
