RALEIGH – Saturday’s NC State football season-opener against Appalachian State will be broadcast live on www.GoPack.com for subscribers to PackPass, athletics department officials announced late Thursday afternoon.
The live streaming webcast will feature the same video feed that will be shown on the video boards at Carter-Finley Stadium, with audio provided by the Wolfpack Sports Network, featuring Tony Haynes, Gary Hahn and Johnny Evans.
The 6 p.m. game, which won’t be broadcast on television, features the Wolfpack, champions of last year’s Meineke Car Care Bowl, and the defending NCAA Division I-AA champion Mountaineers, and has been sold out for weeks.
The broadcast is made possible because of an agreement between XOS Technologies, new host of NC State’s official athletics website, GoPack.com, and ESPN, the television rights holders for the 6 p.m. time block, with approval as a test from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“This is clearly the hottest football ticket in the state this weekend,” said Wolfpack Sports Marketing general manager Brian Asbill. “We are excited to have this unique opportunity to bring this game to both Wolfpack fans and Appalachian State fans who were not able to get tickets.
“It will be the next best thing to being there.”
NC State athletics director Lee Fowler added: "With this being the sixth straight year we have sold out our season tickets, we are glad to have this opportunity for fans who can't be here to see the game on GoPack.com."
Information about Pack Pass subscriptions is available here. Other live events included in the premium package include weekly football and basketball press conferences, post-game press conferences and a host of previously unavailable content.
“We’re proud to partner with NC State to keep its rich football tradition at the forefront for fans – even when they can’t attend a home game,” said Harry Stiff, vice president of consumer marketing for XOS Technologies. “Game tickets can be hard to come by, but all a fan needs to watch the Wolfpack in action is Internet access and a subscription to Pack Pass.
“In addition to live streaming video access, the site also features the latest news updates, auctions and an event registration service, to name a few. It’s the official online hub for everything a Wolfpack fan craves.”
