RALEIGH, N.C. - Ilian Evtimov will have an opportunity to continue the illustrious professional careers of his brother and father overseas, as the Sofia, Bulgaria native recently signed a professional contract with the Adecco Estudiantes of Madrid, Spain and has already joined the team. Evtimov's club, officially titled Club Baloncesto Estudiantes, participates in the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), which stands as Spain's premier basketball league. The team is currently competing in the playoffs.
Known as a prolific passer and three-point threat, Evtimov's 1,214 career points ranks 32nd in NC State history, while his 131 appearances with the red and white place third in the record books. After earning his degree in communications during the summer of 2005, Evtimov remained at NC State for his senior season with the Pack, helping the team to its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Evtimov collected second-team All-ACC Tournament honors as a junior in 2004-05 while leading the league in three-point shooting against conference foes. As a freshman in 2001-02, Evtimov was an honorable mention choice for the All-ACC Rookie Team, missing the first-team by just one vote.
