Raleigh, N.C. - Former NC State guard Anthony Grundy got the call he was waiting for since he left the Wolfpack as a first-team All-ACC performer following his senior season in 2002. On March 27, Grundy signed a 10-day contract with the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, the team he spent training camp with prior to the 2005-06 season. Since being called up from the Developmental League, Grundy has played in all four games and has averaged 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 12.8 minutes of action.
Last night in New Jersey, Grundy had his best game as a pro. He finished with career-highs of 11 points and 21 minutes of action in the road loss for the 22-51 Hawks.
In the D-League, Grundy was one of the top players while playing for the Roanoke Dazzle. He was second in the league in scoring averaging 23.0 points per game over 44 games. He ranked first in the league in three-pointers made and attempted, field goals made and attempted, steals and minutes. Grundy was named to the 2005-06 All-NBA Development League First Team as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Grundy's Hawks are home tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
