Golf Tied for Sixth at Lady Tar Heel Invitational

Three Wolfpack players finished the opening round among the top-11 individuals, including Stephanie Derrey's fifth place showing with an opening round 74. Lauren Doughtie and Nancy Mountcastle also played well in the cold and rainy conditions at the UNC Finley Golf Course with each firing a 75. The Lady Tar Heel Invitational continues through the weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Derrey tied for second in the field with three birdies in the opening round, while Mountcastle shot par on 12 of the 18 holes, tops on the team.
Doughtie was one-under par overall on the course's par-5 holes, tied for the fifth best total in the field. Mountcastle was even par on the par-3 holes, tied for third overall.
Kathleen Strandberg (82) and Jessica Vincent (85) rounded out the lineup for NC State.
