Raleigh, N.C. - Week 8 of the NFL season saw the last two NC State players to have their jerseys retired face each other, two defensive rookies also competing against one another, and a NFL rookie seeing his first action. Here are some of the standout performances from former NC State football players in Week 8:
• Brian Clark was just activated by the Denver Broncos, returned two kickoffs for a total of 50 yards in the Broncos home loss to Indianapolis.
• Former All-Americans Torry Holt and Philip Rivers were both on display in the Chargers 38-24 win over St. Louis. Rivers completed 15-of-23 for 206 yards, and tossed a 25-yard touchdown in the winning effort. Holt had five catches for 48 yards.
• A pair of defensive rookies faced off in the Houston Texans’ loss at Tennessee. First round pick Mario Williams recorded another sack, and now has 3.5 on the season. For Tennessee, fourth round pick Stephen Tulloch recovered a fumble in the Titans 28-22.
• Jerricho Cotchery once again was the leading receiver for the NY Jets in their 20-13 loss to Cleveland. Cotchery had five grabs for 43 yards for the game, and through eight games this season he has 35 catches for 461 yards and three touchdowns.
• Manny Lawson had a season-high seven tackles in San Francisco’s 41-10 loss at Chicago.
